Challenges facing the team:

  • Marking over 20 million components per year across various materials (aluminum, paper, plastics)
  • Full product traceability at every stage — from instructions to pallets
  • Automation of the marking process using the latest technology
  • Integration of marking with the local ERP system

Solution:

PG&WIP uses Domino’s latest inkjet printer, the Ax350i model, to mark kitchen handles. Data on assembly instructions is printed using the G-Series, while data on collective packaging is applied using M230i-T4 print-and-apply units. The applicator is mounted on a traverse, enabling marking of 3 products in a single cycle.

Smaller details are marked using continuous inkjet printing technology. The parts are then placed into plastic packaging, which is marked with a V320i thermal transfer printer. The packages are subsequently marked with C6000i large character printers before being placed on pallets, which are labeled by Domino M230i P150 devices. The data on the label is linked to the local ERP system, enabling automated forklifts to accurately place pallets onto the correct trucks.

The QuickDesign software, thanks to easy integration with the existing ERP system, helped reduce human errors arising from selecting print data. Using an iPad and the QuickDesign app, operators can maintain full control over what each Domino device in the factory prints, ensuring that the entire marking process runs correctly.

“Domino’s comprehensive approach to our labeling requirements has had a significant impact on the growth of our company. Today, our turnover stands at EUR 800,000 per employee.” — Håkan Östangård, PG&WIP
